Robert van Ooyen

Robert Christian van Ooyen (* 1960 in Duisburg ) is a German political scientist and political philosopher . He is co-editor of the Public Safety Yearbook .

Life

Van Ooyen studied political science , philosophy and public law at the universities in Vienna, Duisburg, Bonn and Basel. In 1987 he completed his diploma with a thesis with the political philosopher and founder of religious politics Claus-Ekkehard Bärsch and in 1988/89 he was a postgraduate of the Council of Europe at the Institute for International Law of the University of Basel with Luzius Wildhaber , President of the European Court of Human Rights . In 1991 he was in Hans-Peter Schwarz at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn with a thesis on Swiss neutrality in armed conflicts since 1945 to Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1992 to 1995 he taught politics and constitutional law at the Federal College for Public Administration in Cologne and Brühl. From 1998 to 2001 he was a substitute professor for political science at the Gerhard Mercator University in Duisburg . Since 2001 he has been teaching political and social sciences at the Federal University for Public Administration - Federal Police Department in Lübeck. From 2006 to 2017 he was a regular lecturer at the Otto Suhr Institute at the Free University of Berlin and at the Institute for Political Science at the TU Dresden . Since 2017 he has been an honorary professor for political science at the TU Dresden.

His main research interests are state theory , constitutional politics, politics / law and public security . He is co-editor of the Public Safety Yearbook . Since 2011 he has been a member of the international scientific advisory board of the journal Contributions to the Legal History of Austria ; since 2014 he has also been the editor of the magazine Recht und Politik . He is the author of numerous books and specialist articles, published, among others, in the magazine for politics , the magazine for political science , in Der Staat , in Aus Politik und Zeitgeschichte , in the Journal der Juristische Zeitgeschichte and in Polizei & Wissenschaft .
