Robert Dunham

Robert Dunham (born July 6, 1931 in Maine , † August 6, 2001 in Sarasota , Florida ) was an American actor .

Life

Dunham was born to Charlotte and Earl Dunham into a wealthy family. He grew up in Wellesley Hills and went to school in Dedham, Massachusetts . He then attended Williams College in Williamstown , Massachusetts, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in art history. This was followed by military service in the United States Marine Corps . As part of his military service, he was also stationed in Yokohama, Japan , where he served as a lieutenant for two years. He later took a language course abroad to learn the Japanese language .

After retiring from the military, Dunham decided to stay in Japan and open his own import / export business. He also starred in several commercials as Dunham had many opportunities because he was fluent in the language. Later he worked for Japanese advertising, as well as in various business fields, because as an American he could speak Japanese fluently.

Among his best-known roles is Antonio, Emperor of the subterranean continent Seatopia in King Kong - Demons from Space . Dunham lived in the meantime in Japan , where he performed other film duties. He spoke fluent Japanese and worked as an actor as well as a stuntman , so he shot a risky scene with a motorcycle himself for the aforementioned film.

Dunham lived in Tokyo for 20 years with his wife Keiko and their two children, Barbara Ann and Daniel . After the separation and subsequent divorce, he was in a relationship with the model Setsuko Sazawa, whom he also married in 1969. The couple also had two children, Emiko (Emmy) and Marcia. Dunham and his family moved to Denenchofu, a suburb near Tokyo, where they lived from 1970 to 1975. After that, Dunham decided to move to Cape Cod, Massachusetts and ultimately return to the United States. In his home country, he worked as a freelance writer, often contributing to magazines such as Car and Driver .
