action

An amorphous extraterrestrial being destroys a satellite in orbit. At the same time, gemstones stolen from an international ring by diamond robbers are disappearing around the world. It turns out that the spoils of a major robbery in Yokohama are sweets.

Inspector Kommei's investigations lead him to the crystallographer Dr. Munakata, who explains that Dogora, the alien life form, feeds on carbon . In connection with the major robbery led by Mark Jackson, a coal mine truck had also disappeared into the atmosphere.

Dr. Munakata sets out on the trail of a scientific sensation to Kitakyushu , Dogora's likely next destination. Jackson, who, it turns out, exchanged the diamonds for candy in order to get them under the nail, is on his way there too. Hamako is also on the hunt for the diamonds.

In Kyushu, Dogora is attacked by a swarm of wasps whose beehives Dogora had roused in the mines. Thereupon solid pieces of crystal separate from Dagora and fall towards earth.

Then a jellyfish-like creature appears in the sky and absorbs all matter contained in carbon, thereby destroying the Wakato Bridge in Kitakyushu. After long bombardment, the military appears to have defeated the creature, but in truth it is in a state of mitosis .

In the meantime, the production of larger quantities of the wasp venom is initiated, as this apparently triggered the crystallization in Dagora.

At the same time, Inspector Kommei comes across Jackson's diamond hiding place, but Hamako has since discovered the hiding place and flees with the diamonds. Before that, she ties Jackson and Kommei and sets fire to dynamite; but both men can barely escape the explosion.

When they meet on the beach, the police and the diamond thieves are slain on the beach by Dagora's body, which has been transformed into a giant crystal by the wasp venom. The diamonds stolen by Hamako turn out to be fake; Mark Jackson actually works for an insurance company. Dr. Munakata plans to explore the potential of the events for world peace.

"Tricky science fiction cinema with a thin plot."
