Robert F. Shugrue

Robert F. Shugrue (born January 17, 1937 in Santa Monica , California , † November 27, 1999 in Los Angeles , California) was an American film editor .

Life

Robert F. Shugrue was the son of photographer Frank Shugrue and studio assistant Phyllis Harper. His grandfather, Tom Shugrue, was an electrician at MGM Studios and his brother Michael Shugrue was a news cameraman for NBC News . He started his film career in 1956 as an assistant editor at Universal Television's Revue Studio . He made his feature film debut as editor in 1966 with the television film Der Flug des Schreckens . In his career he was nominated four times for an Emmy , whereby he received it in 1982 for his editing of a television biography about the former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir . In 1991 he and David Blangsted received the Eddie Award from the American Cinema Editors .

Shugrue died on November 27, 1999 at the age of 62 from complications from a heart attack . It was only in April 1999 that he had a heart operation. He himself had to give up his career because of health problems. He had three children: Nicole Shugrue, Fox Searchlight post-producer, editor Robert Shugrue Junior, and his second son, David Shugrue, and three grandchildren. His son-in-law was the editor Scot Scalise .
