Robert Grossman

Robert Grossman (born March 1, 1940 in New York City ; † March 15, 2018 there ) was an American cartoonist , caricaturist , illustrator and animator .

Life

Grossmann studied fine arts at Yale University until 1961 , when he published the humorous college newspaper Yale Record . After completing his studies, he worked briefly for The New Yorker Weekly magazine , but since 1963 has been a freelance cartoonist and caricaturist. Numerous drawings of contemporary personalities were created, which Grossman realized with pen and spray gun. Grossman's illustrations have appeared in New York Magazine , Rolling Stone , The Nation, and The New Yorker , among others ; His works have appeared on magazine covers over 500 times. He also drew movie posters, including the knotted plane poster for the 1980 film The Incredible Journey in a Crazy Plane , and record covers.

Grossman also implemented some of his caricatures in small sculptures. As a producer, he was Knetanimationsfilm Jimmy the C of Jimmy Picker involved and received a 1978 Oscar nomination in the category Best Animated Short Film . In the 1980s, Grossman also made several animated advertising films with his brother David Grossman.
