Railway Act of May 27, 1908
The Danish Railways Act of 27 May 1908 , Act no. 156 of new railway systems, etc. ( Danish Jernbaneloven af 27. maj 1908 -. Lov nr 156 om nye jernbaneanlæg mv ) was one of the three major railway laws of Denmark from 1894, 1908 and 1918, with which the construction and operation of most of the Danish private railways have been approved. The law of 1908 also contained state railway construction measures. Furthermore, with the Railway Act of March 29, 1924, a law was passed that affected the railway lines in the part of Sønderjyllands - Nordschleswig - which belonged to Germany until the referendum in 1920 .
State railway construction work
The law stipulates the following construction measures for Danske Statsbaner (DSB):
- Double-track expansion of the Nyborg – Strib railway line
- Acquisition and renovation of the Vejle – Give private railway and the construction of the Herning – Holstebro railway line
- Construction of a railway line from Vigerslev via Brøndbyøster and Greve to Køge (not carried out)
- Construction of a railway line from Funder via Brande, between Omvraa (Blaahøj) and Filskov and from Grindsted to Bramming
- Construction of a railway line from Skjern to Videbæk
- Construction of a railway line from Næstved via Herlufmagle , Glumsø , Sandby , Ringsted , Hvalsø , Skibby , Frederikssund and Slangerup to Hillerød . The Næstved – Frederikssund railway line was built from it .
Private railways
The law contained the following regulations for the construction of private railways:
The construction and operation of the following routes could be reserved until April 1, 1925. The state would pay between 40% and 75% of the respective construction costs for the routes. In addition, until January 1, 2008, the state could take over any route 25 years after the opening if compensation was paid.
Unless otherwise specified, the lines should be built in standard gauge . This also applied to the extensions of the two narrow-gauge railways from Horsens to Tørring and Bryrup. There was no need to run the old and new parts of the route together. One way to operate the lines together would be if the new parts of the line were built as narrow-gauge railways. However, this would have to be approved by the ministry. A solution for these cases only came about with the Railway Act of 1918, which stipulated that the two narrow-gauge railways would be converted to standard gauge.
The Railway Act of 1908 contained a number of planned electrified railways, particularly in Jutland . In the Railway Act of 1918, these projects were partially canceled or partially replaced by "ordinary railways". Only the Vestsallingbane was built as decided.
Of the 51 private railway projects listed, 35 were completed, three only partially built and two changed with the Railway Act of 1918.
