Tversted is a small Danish town in the north-west of Vendsyssel in the Tannis Bay .

location

The place belongs to the Hjørring municipality and the region of North Jutland . It is in Tversted Sogn .

In summer, thousands of tourists visit the seaside resort, which is also called "Lille-Skagen". The holiday home areas are located in the west and east of the village . There are also campsites and the Badehotel Hotel Tannishus .

The beach has a protected location within the Tannis Bay. The main road "Tannisbugtvej" leads directly to the wide sandy beach. Tversted, along with Skiveren and Skagen, is one of the areas in Jutland that has the most hours of sunshine.

traffic

With the Railway Act of May 27, 1908 , the private railway line Hjørring – Aalbæk Jernbane from Ålbæk via Tversted to Hjørring, possibly with a branch line from Vellingshøj to Hirtshals, was established. This route was never built.

The place is connected with the bus line 78 (Sæby – Østervrå – Tårs – Hjørring – Astrup – Sindal – Bindslev – Tversted) and the bus line 80 (Lønstrup – Hjørring – Bjergby – Tversted) the Nordjyllands Trafikselskab with the city of Hjørring and the local train station. In the summer season, line 99 also runs between the seaside resorts on the coast.

Events

Every year in October (week 42) the "Jazzy Days" take place with representatives of Danish and international modern jazz.

Special

In 2014 Tversted became a Nullskrald-Dorf ( German  literally: zero garbage, no garbage ). Both local residents and tourists try to avoid waste as much as possible.
