Bindslev is a small place on Uggerby Å in the north of Vendsyssel in Bindslev Sogn , about 20 kilometers northeast of Hjørring in Denmark and north of Sindal . The place is in the municipality of Hjørring and belongs to the region Nordjylland .

history

Archaeological excavations have shown that the place was inhabited since the Stone Age.

In 1682 Nørre Bindslev consisted of 13 farms and 13 houses with gardens. The total area under cultivation was 326.0 tons of land ( Danish tønde land , 1 ton land = 0.49364 hectares), of which 69.05 tons of bread grain. The remaining area was used for grassland cultivation. This is a cultivation system in the village community in which only about half of the arable land is sown, but the rest is dormant for four to five years.

Around 1900 the place was described as follows: "Nørre-Bindslev with a school, 2 mills and a dairy cooperative, grocery stores, etc."

Bindslev grew in the interwar period and after World War II . In 1925 the place had 556 inhabitants, in 1930 495, 1935 590 and 1940 631 inhabitants. In 1945 there were 666 inhabitants, 745 in 1950, 747 in 1955, 902 in 1960 and 1,010 in 1965.

In 1930, 95 inhabitants lived from agriculture, 153 from industry and handicrafts, 69 from trade, 46 from transport, 14 from services, 56 worked in the household, 60 retired from the labor force and no information was available for 2.

free time activities

The sports club Bindslev / Tversted IF celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2016. When Bindslev IF merged in 1969 with Tversted IF, which was founded in 1926, there was an agreement that defines 1926 as the year of foundation. The club played in the Jyllandsserien for several years.

Every year there is a harmonica event every 30th week .
