Robert Heuberger

Robert K. Heuberger (born January 12, 1922 in Olten ) is a Swiss real estate entrepreneur, patron and author under the pseudonym Victor Vermont .

life and career

Heuberger grew up in poor circumstances. In the 1930s he completed an apprenticeship at the Swiss Volksbank in Aarburg . As a bank and insurance clerk, he later worked for Volksbank as an accountant, head of credit and securities specialist, then as agency manager for Bâloise insurance.

With his wife Ruth, née Mötteli, (* 1924, † 2016), Heuberger founded Siska Heuberger Holding AG in 1954 , with which he carried out a number of larger construction projects, especially in Eastern Switzerland, such as the construction of around 1,000 apartments in Winterthur . According to an estimate by the business magazine Bilanz , he had assets of CHF 300 to 500 million in 2012.

He is the father of the media entrepreneur Günter Heuberger ( Radio Top , Tele Top ) and the father of Rainer Heuberger , former Cantonal Councilor of Zurich ( SVP ), owner of Siska Verwaltungs AG .

Heuberger's public commitment includes the financing of the establishment of the Club of Rome in Winterthur, the establishment of the non-profit "Robert and Ruth Heuberger Foundation" and the foundation of an innovation prize for young entrepreneurs. In 2007 the city of Winterthur awarded him the «Winterthurer Löwen» prize, which was created for him. In 2013, Heuberger drew attention to itself with double-sided advertisements against the initiative to abolish compulsory military service . The referendum was clearly rejected.

In honor of Robert and Ruth Heuberger's commitment to social and cultural institutions, the asteroid no. 82232 has been named " (82232) Heuberger " since 2004 .
