Robert Kleinau
Konrad Wilhelm Julius Robert Kleinau, nickname Robert (born August 17, 1846 in Möckern ; † November 2, 1921 in Berlin ) was a German architect and municipal building officer .
Life
family
Kleinau's parents were the master carpenter and mill builder Johann Samuel Andreas Kleinau (1789–1860) and his second wife Dorothee Sophie Kohl (1800–1892). His half-brother, who came from his father's first marriage to Johanna Sophie Rumpf, was the engineer and master builder Johann Friedrich Samuel Kleinau (1811 to after 1875). He was married to Marie Janeck (1856–1933) since May 26, 1874, whose divorced marriage had three children and, from November 13, 1885, five children to Johanna König (* 1859). One of the sons from the second marriage was Walther Kleinau (* 1886) , who later became the chief building officer . His last residence was at Argentinischen Allee 2 in Berlin-Zehlendorf.

In the 1860s, Kleinau was director of urban planning in Magdeburg , then chief building officer in Berlin, and finally from 1893 he worked as a freelance architect in Zehlendorf . In Magdeburg he became a member of the Masonic lodge Harpokrates . Under his construction management, the construction work for the Holy Cross Church in Berlin began and he was u. a. alongside Otto Raschdorff involved in the construction and construction management of the Berlin Cathedral (1894–1905).
He designed the Keck gardens of the hotelier and café owner Emil Theodor Ferdinand Keck on Mühlenstrasse / Prinz-Handjery- Strasse in Berlin-Zehlendorf together with the head gardener Wilhelm Derling . He also created numerous residential buildings, mainly in Berlin-Zehlendorf.
