Robert Kothe

Robert Kothe , artist name Frigidus Strang , (born February 6, 1869 in Straubing , † May 24, 1947 in Graefelfing ) was a German lawyer , composer , poet , violinist , actor and singer.

Life

Robert Kothe was the son of the gas factory director in Straubing and studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. During his studies he became a member of the Academic Choral Society in Munich .

In 1901 he was one of the founders and a member of the cabaret " Die Elf Scharfrichter ", where he appeared under the stage name Frigidus Strang . From 1903 he devoted himself entirely to playing the lute and the renewal of German folk songs, with which he celebrated great success throughout Germany. He translates the Swedish wandering song Im Frühhtau zu Berge and published it in a series with lute songs in 1917.

His daughter is the actress Gundula Fuchsberger .

In memory

According to him, is Robert Kothe Street was named in Straubing. After a Robert Kothe evening took place in 2006, a small exhibition in the Straubing city archive shows personal documents from Kothes' estate.
