The Robert Kunzmann GmbH & Co. KG is a German automobile sales company. It goes back to a Mercedes-Benz agency founded by Robert Kunzmann († 1970) in 1935. The Kunzmann dealership is represented at ten locations, mainly in the greater Aschaffenburg area , and is one of the largest employers in the region. Around 930 employees generated sales of 408 million euros in the 2016 financial year.
Company history
Established in 1935
The dealership was founded in 1935 as a Mercedes-Benz agency in Aschaffenburg. The entry in the commercial register is from April 8, 1940 under the name Robert Kunzmann & Co. KG. known. Until 1945, the headquarters of the GmbH was in Darmstädter Straße, Aschaffenburg. In 1948 they moved to the barracks in Spessartstrasse. In 1949, however, the barracks were confiscated by the US Army and the dealership had to move to a barn on Leinenerstrasse. In 1952 the company moved into a car workshop at Heinsestraße 10 in the city center.
1956-1970
The Diehm family joined the company in 1956 as limited partners. In 1957 a new repair hall was built at the current company headquarters at Auhofstrasse 29 in Aschaffenburg. In 1962 Ernst Diehm joined the company and became managing director. A year later a spare parts store with social rooms was built. Wolfgang Diehm joined the company in 1964 as an authorized signatory . In 1967 the branch was rebuilt at Landstrasse 62 in Wörth am Main. Company founder Robert Kunzmann died in 1970 at the age of 68. In the same year a separate commercial vehicle service center was built in Aschaffenburg.
1971-1991
In 1972 a branch was established in Alzenau . At the same time, a commercial vehicle service reception was built in Aschaffenburg. Only one year later, the new building of a separate administration building was moved to Auhofstrasse 29 in Aschaffenburg. In the same year an exhibition room was set up at Weichertstrasse 13 in Aschaffenburg. A rebuilding of the spare parts warehouse and the expansion of the Wörth am Main branch were imminent in 1976. At the end of the 1970s, Ernst Diehm left the company and Wolfgang Diehm took over the management. In 1981 a paint center for cars and trucks was built on Auhofstrasse. Three years later, the branch in Wörth am Main was modernized. In 1987 the service center in Auhofstrasse was expanded. In addition to the construction of a new wash hall, a test room and a brake test stand, training and social rooms were also increased. The paint center in Aschaffenburg was expanded in 1988. In 1990 and 1991 the branch in Alzenau was rebuilt. In addition, a new exhibition room was built on the opposite side of the street.
1992-2001
In 1994, the dialog reception was built in Aschaffenburg, Auhofstrasse 29, and put into operation. In 1995 the commercial vehicle operation was rebuilt at Dr.-Patt-Straße 10 in Stockstadt. This enabled the commercial vehicle department to move from Aschaffenburg to Stockstadt . At the same time, the company received ISO 9001 certification . In 1997, the exhibition hall in Auhofstrasse was rebuilt. In 1998 Robert Kunzmann GmbH & Co. KG received the sales rights for the Mercedes-Benz agency in Gelnhausen . One year later, the Mercedes-Benz agency in Höchst in the Odenwald was taken over. The branch in Wörth was rebuilt and an exhibition hall was added. At the turn of the millennium, the sales of automobiles of the brands " Chrysler ", " Jeep " and " Dodge " were added. In 2000 the Autohaus Kreis in Gelnhausen was completely taken over, which was rebuilt and renewed in the following two years.
Since 2002
In 2002 the Transporter Used Car Center (TGC) in Stockstadt was put into operation. In 2004 the service center in Höchst / Odenwald was closed. In 2005, Leo Steinbrecher GmbH in Dietzenbach was leased, a VW Transporter Service Center was set up in Nilkheim, the Service Center in Alzenau was rebuilt, a bus service hall in Stockstadt was completed and the service center in Nilkheim was expanded by one Transporter dialog acceptance expanded. In 2006 Karl Diehm became managing director alongside Wolfgang Diehm. The Lotz dealership in Obertshausen was also taken over.
Since 2007, commercial vehicles of the Mitsubishi Fuso brand have been repaired and sold in the Stockstadt am Main plant . In 2008 a VW service location for cars was set up in Aschaffenburg, the independent workshop system "Autocrew" was opened in Wörth am Main and the new paint and bodywork center was inaugurated at the main plant in Aschaffenburg. In 2009 the Smart Service location was opened in Obertshausen. In the same year, a new online shop for selling original and tuning parts was launched. Alzenau's Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle service was relocated to Gelnhausen in 2010. In Aschaffenburg, the facade of the administration building was renewed in 2011 and Smart Sales and Service opened in the same year. The VW service for cars and commercial vehicles was set up at the Alzenau site. In 2012 the exhibition hall (studio) of the main plant in Aschaffenburg was rebuilt and part of it was newly built. In 2013 the new multifunctional building with parking spaces and storage rooms was opened in the same location. The 10th location was also taken over: Autohaus Nold GmbH in Groß-Gerau. In 2014, the Obertshausen and Dietzenbach operations were merged at the Dietzenbach site. In January 2015, Andreas Tetzloff joined the company as managing director. Wolfgang Diehm switched to the advisory board as chairman. On April 1, 2016, the Kunzmann dealership took over the Mercedes-Benz branch in Fulda. In 2019 the managing director Mr. Andreas Tetzloff left the company. Since June 2019, Mr. Thomas Millies has been managing director alongside Karl Diehm.

- 1st place in the sales award: For the Aschaffenburg location, awarded by the specialist magazines in the motor vehicle trade kfz-Betrieb and used car practice as well as Santander Consumer Bank and CarGarantie.

- Best wheels & tires dealership: Awarded by the trade magazines Autohaus und ServiceProfi with the support of Yokohama Reifen, ProContour, RR-Team and TÜV Rheinland.
- 1st place at the Federal Education Award of the German Motor Vehicle Industry
- CRM Best Practice Award: Awarded by the organizer of the Nuremberg trade fair CRM-expo, asfc - atelier scherer fair consulting, Fürth, as well as the magazine "acquisa" from the publisher Haufe-Lexware GmbH & Co. KG, Freiburg.

- 3rd place at the Service Award 2012. The specialist magazine "kfz -betrieb" Wochenjournal & Online, the tire manufacturer Pirelli and the lubricant manufacturer Fuchs Europe Lubricants award the Service Award to automobile companies in Germany for their customer friendliness.

- Young Stars All Stars: The Kunzmann Galerie Aschaffenburg was awarded the “Young Stars All Stars” award from Daimler AG. Test purchases and customer surveys that took place in advance are aimed entirely at the quality of advice, commitment and professional competence.
- 2014
- Commercial Vehicle Service Award: Received the Commercial Vehicle Service Award 2014 for the Stockstadt location. The specialist media brand "kfz-Betrieb" awards the Service Award annually to car companies in Germany for innovative service concepts and sophisticated marketing strategies.
- 2015
- Best of Service 2015 Vans and Trucks: In the "Best of Service 2015", the Kunzmann truck team took 2nd place and the transporter team 4th. Checks were carried out via an online test and at the Stuttgart venue as part of knowledge tests, customer discussions and workshop services.
- 2016
- Used car award: The Kunzmann car dealership was awarded 1st place. The trade media brand "Used Car Practice" has awarded this title for the 11th time. 70 companies took part in the competition.
- German Brand Award 2016 in gold for the customer magazine Sternstunden. The Kunzmann car dealership's “Sternstunden” customer magazine, conceived and designed by SchleeGleixner's design and advertising agency, won the German Brand Award 2016 in gold in the “Brand Campaign - Classic & Print” category.
- 2018
- 3rd place in a comparison of the most customer-friendly Mercedes-Benz dealerships: Autohaus Kunzmann was awarded 3rd place in the Mercedes-Benz car sales category by Mercedes-Benz Sales Germany (MBVD). The evaluation was determined in the course of nationwide analyzes and customer surveys.
- 2019
