Robert Lefebvre

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert Lefebvre (born March 19, 1907 as Robert Gérard Charles Le Febvre in Paris , † February 15, 1989 in Montfort-l'Amaury ) was a French cameraman .

Live and act

Lefebvre had worked in the chemistry lab at the Kodak photography company before moving to film in 1927 and starting as a camera assistant. Three years later he became head cameraman and over the next four and a half decades photographed a large number of box-office entertainment films, occasionally even with artistic aspirations. The works Reise ohne Hope , Goldhelm and Der Fall Maurizius are among his best works.

Otherwise, Lefebvre proved to be a prominent picture designer of popular, albeit mostly unambitious, mass entertainment. As an accomplished technician without artistic ambition, he nevertheless worked with important representatives of French cinema, especially after 1945, including the actors Gérard Philipe , Maurice Chevalier , Fernandel , Michèle Morgan , Jean Gabin and Brigitte Bardot as well as the directors Ludwig Berger , Luis Buñuel and René Clair .

Lefebvre's rapid decline began in the mid-1960s: In his last decade of work, the Parisian primarily photographed sex films of the lowest quality, often staged by the director Max Pécas, who is well-known for this genre.

Robert Lefebvre died, inactive in the last decade and a half of his life, mentally deranged.
