Robert Nikolic (born August 1, 1968 in Bonn ) is a former German soccer player . With 272 games in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga without scoring , Nikolic is the least dangerous field player in the history of the German professional leagues .
The defender's professional career began in 1988 at Borussia Dortmund . The Borussians used Nikolic 51 times in the Bundesliga until 1991. In 1989 Nikolic won the DFB Cup with Dortmund .
In the 1990s Nikolic played for the second division FC St. Pauli and KFC Uerdingen 05 as well as for the regional division Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . For Uerdingen, Nikolic scored his only professional goal to the final score of 0: 2 on December 3, 1997 in the final minute of the cup game at SV Meppen .
In 1999 Nikolic switched to the second division club 1. FSV Mainz 05 , where he was initially considered a bad purchase, but after a six-month loan to the regional division SV Darmstadt 98, he prevailed and stayed longer than any other club. After his return from Darmstadt in the summer of 2000, Nikolic was retrained as a right-back. The fast and strong duel formed a congenial duo on the right-wing Mainz defense with the technically strong and clearly more offensive Manuel Friedrich . In 2004 Nikolic rose to the Bundesliga with the Mainz team, so that 13 years after his last first division appearance he was able to play another 15 games in this league.
In the summer of 2005, Nikolic ended his career.
Oddities
After Mainz's ascent, the magazine Bunte dedicated a poorly researched article to the defender , in which Nikolic was alleged to have missed the job - after all, a striker should not be allowed to fail to score goals in over 200 games.
