Robert Pollak

Robert A. Pollak (born December 1, 1938 in New York City ) is an American economist .

Career, research and teaching

Pollak first studied at Amherst College , which he left in 1960 as a Bachelor of Arts in the direction of MIT . There he graduated in 1964 as a Ph.D. He then worked initially as an assistant professor and associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania and at times at the same time for the United States Department of Labor . In 1972 he received a full professorship at the university, which he left in 1990. After a five-year stay at the University of Washington , he accepted an appointment at Washington University in St. Louis in 1995 .

Pollak's work focuses on labor market research , family economics and the economic effects of demographic developments . He is a member of the Econometric Society , the American Academy of Arts and Sciences , the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Society of Labor Economists , of which he was President between 2009 and 2010. Since 2006 he has been a Research Fellow at the Bonn Institute for the Future of Work .
