Robert Stephen Dehler

Robert Stephen Dehler CR (born December 26, 1889 in St. Agatha , † August 26, 1966 ) was Vicar Apostolic of the Bermuda Islands .

Life

Paul Leonard Hagarty joined the order of the Resurrectionists and was ordained a priest on December 19, 1916 . Pope Pius XII appointed him prefect of the Bermuda Islands on May 7, 1954 . With the elevation to the Apostolic Vicariate on January 28, 1956 he was appointed Vicar Apostolic of the Bermuda Islands and Titular Bishop of Clazomenae .

He received episcopal ordination from the Apostolic Delegate in the United Kingdom , Gerald Patrick Aloysius O'Hara , on March 19 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Joseph Anthony O'Sullivan , Archbishop of Kingston , and Joseph Francis Ryan , Bishop of Hamilton .

He attended the 1st, 3rd and 4th sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
