Roberto Ruiz Esparza (born January 16, 1965 in Puebla , Puebla ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of central defender .

career

society

Born in Puebla, Ruiz began his professional career in the 1983/84 season with his hometown club Puebla FC and was actively involved in the most successful years in the club's history. In 1988 he won the Copa México with the Camoteros and two years later the double of championship and cup. In 1991 he won the CONCACAF Champions' Cup and again a year later he was runner-up with Puebla.

With his next club UANL Tigres he won the Copa México again in 1996 and in Torneo Invierno 1996 he was runner-up again with Necaxa .

After another stint at Atlético Celaya , he returned to Puebla FC in the winter of 1998/99, where he ended his active career in 2001.

National team

Between 1987 and 1993 Ruiz completed a total of 22 missions for the Mexican national team . He played his first international match on October 6, 1987 against Canada (4-0) and his last appearance on February 10, 1993 against Romania (2-0).
