Robin Shou ( Chinese  仇雲波 , born July 17, 1960 in Hong Kong ) is a Chinese - American actor and director .

biography

Robin Shou is the son of a tailor and a housewife and has four siblings (two sisters and two brothers). When Robin was 11 years old, he and his family moved to Los Angeles .

Robin began learning martial arts at the age of 19 . He started with Kempō Karate , but quickly realized that this was not for him and stopped again. A year and a half later, he saw a Wu Shu performance and said, "This is Chinese." He went to China to study Wu Shu.

In the meantime, Robin Shou came back to the USA to complete his degree in civil engineering. He found this job too boring and went back to Hong Kong to work as an actor and stuntman .

In 1994, Robin Shou came back to the US to start an import / export company when he received a call from his agent to audition for the role of Liu Kang ( Mortal Kombat ) . He wasn't interested in it at first, but went anyway - a short time later he had the role and became acquainted with it. Robin also took on the role of Liu Kang in the second part of the video game adaptation in 1997 .

He can also be seen in films such as Beverly Hills Ninja, Fighting Connection and the drama Forbidden Nights .

In 2003 he made his debut as a director in his first self-produced film Red Trousers - The Life of Hong Kong Stuntmen .
