The AFC Rochdale (officially: Rochdale Association Football Club ) - also known as The Dale - is an English football -Club from Rochdale . The club, nicknamed The Dale, plays its home games at the Spotland Stadium .
history
The association was founded in 1907 and played from 1974 to 2010 (36 years) without interruption in the fourth English top flight, today EFL League Two - a record in English football, which the League the playful nickname "the Rochdale Division" ( German the Rochdale- League ) gave. In April 2010, after a 1-0 win against Northampton Town , the club managed to advance to Football League One , the third highest division. After two seasons, however, they rose back to fourth division in 2012 as bottom of the table.
In 1962, the club reached the final of a national cup competition as the first fourth division in the league cup. However, they lost to Norwich City .
