Rockne Tarkington

Rockne Booth Tarkington (born July 15, 1931 in Junction City , Kansas - † April 5, 2015 ) was an American actor .

Life

Tarkington began his career in 1963 with a small episode role in the television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents . In the same year he made a feature film debut opposite Jackie Gleason and Steve McQueen in the comedy A Soldier Is In The Rain . In addition to numerous other guest appearances in series such as In Love with a Witch , Cobra, Take Over You and High Chaparral , he was also seen in several other feature films in the 1960s, including Clarence, the cross-eyed lion and Sierra Charriba . He played the role of Elihu Morgan in the children's series The Banana Splits Adventure Hour between 1968 and 1969 .

In 1974 he played the title role of Samson in the blaxploitation film Black Samson , and continued to receive regular guest roles on series such as Baretta . Between 1983 and 1984 he appeared in the recurring guest role of "Too Mean" Malone on the Matt Houston series. His last feature film role was in Lawrence Kasdan's western Wyatt Earp in 1994 .

Tarkington was married to actress Joan Blackman between 1968 and 1970 . In the 1990s he moved back to his hometown to take care of his mother. He later joined the Mormons there .
