The Roewe 350 is a compact class passenger car introduced in 2006 by the Chinese manufacturer Shanghai Automotive Industry . Because of its appearance, the model is mistakenly considered the Chinese successor to the Rover 25 . In 2008, the model name was renamed in favor of the MG brand, newly acquired by SAIC, also for the Chinese home market. The second generation could only be introduced in 2011.

The first generation of the Roewe 350 was launched in 2006. It was the optical notchback version of the Roewe 250 . Unlike the small 250, the technology used was the same as that of the Rover 45 .
After SAIC had acquired the trademark rights of the British brand MG in the course of 2007 through the takeover of Nanjing Industry, it was decided to offer the model in badge engineering in parallel in a sportier form than MG 5 . Production of the first generation had to be ended in 2008 in favor of the development of the Roewe N1 .

The second generation of the Roewe 350 was launched on the Chinese market in early 2011. Under the brand name MG, the model developed into an export hit within a few years.
Technically closely related to the Roewe 350 is the higher-priced hatchback sister model MG 5 and the smaller MG 3 . The Roewe 350 is equipped with a 1.5-liter engine with 80 kW, for which there is an optional automatic.
