The Roewe i5 is a compact class passenger car from the Roewe brand belonging to the Chinese SAIC Motor group .
history
The vehicle was first presented as the Ei5 station wagon at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2017. The electrically powered vehicle went on sale in China in March 2018. Since January 2019, it has a longer range, which is achieved by a battery with a higher capacity.
The 5.7 centimeter longer notchback version i5 was presented in mid-2018 and has been available in China since October 2018. In contrast to the exclusively electrically powered station wagon, it is only delivered with combustion engines. Outside the Chinese home market, for example, it is marketed in the Middle East as the MG 5 .
Technically, the i5 and Ei5 are based on the Excelle GT / GX from the Buick brand , which in China also belongs to SAIC Motor through the SAIC General Motors joint venture.
