The Roewe RX5 is a compact SUV of the SAIC Group belonging to the Chinese brand Roewe . The vehicle was presented at the Beijing Motor Show in April 2016 and has been sold in China with the engines from the MG GS since August 2016 . The 25,000th vehicle was built in September 2016. In October 2017 China launched Roewe RX3 very similar visually the RX5.

Outside the Chinese home market, for example, the vehicle is marketed in the Middle East as the MG RX5 .

Smartcar

The RX5 is also known as the world's first “smart car”, as the five-seater with the Linux operating system Yun OS works similarly to a smartphone . The operating system was originally developed by the Alibaba subsidiary AliCloud for smartphones and tablet computers . This system assigns its own Internet ID to the vehicle, which means that the RX5 can, for example, pay automatically at petrol stations via Alipay .

eRX5

The Roewe eRX5 plug-in hybrid was presented at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2016 . It takes over the 124 kW (169 PS) 1.5-liter gasoline engine from the RX5 20T and combines it with two electric motors . This means that the SUV accelerates to 100 km / h in 7.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 200 km / h. The electric range of the plug-in hybrid is around 60 kilometers.

ERX5

On June 3, 2017, the Roewe ERX5, the world's first electrically powered smart car, went on sale. The SUV has an 85 kW (116 PS) electric motor that accelerates the vehicle to 50 km / h in 4.2 seconds. The top speed of the ERX5 is 135 km / h. The manufacturer specifies a range of up to 425 kilometers.
