The MG 7 is a sports sedan built by SAIC Motor and derived from the Rover 75 and MG ZT . Production began in spring 2007. It received good grades from the British car magazine Auto Express , where it underwent a car test in May 2008. A sister model is the Chinese Roewe 750 or its identical Chilean version as the MG 750 .
The MG 7 is available in two versions: the first is similar to the MG ZT Mark I with double headlights and the second is the Rover 75 V8 Mark II. A version with a longer wheelbase, called MG 7L , has the wider grille of the Rover 78 V8.
The MG 7 is also available in two equipment lines: "Classic" with a slotted radiator grille and "Sport" with a radiator grille. The appearance of the 7 has not changed significantly from the processes ZT and Rover 75; the only noticeable difference is the redesigned LED taillights and the aluminum rims. The car also has new sound and heating systems and a new sun roof. There are two engines to choose from, a 1.8-liter R4 turbo and a 2.5-liter V6, both revised units of the Rover K series, which are now called N series, have stronger cylinder head gaskets and the Comply with Euro IV emissions standards. The electrics have also been improved so that the ignition works better and other equipment can be connected, such as DVD players and a rear-view camera mounted in the headrests for the rear seat passengers .
The biggest improvements include the reintroduction of various equipment details that were abandoned under the Rover “Project Drive”, for example the insulation of the bonnet, grab handles for the passenger and a package to significantly reduce engine and road noise in the interior. All models now have ITS head airbags .
