The MG 5 is a compact class passenger car launched on the Chinese market in 2007. The model is produced by the automobile manufacturer SAIC Motor . The model series is considered the successor to the MG ZS .

As MG 5, the MG ZS was revived for the Chinese market in 2007. The model was available in three equipment lines and two engines.

The second generation of the MG went on sale in summer 2011. The model now shares the platform with the MG 3 and the MG / Roewe 350 . Like its predecessor, it is also available in three different equipment lines.
The model is produced in the Pukou plant . Since late 2013, the right-hand drive model has also been manufactured by the Charoen Pokphand Group in Laem Chabang , Thailand .
