The Roewe 550 is a mid-size car from the Chinese brand Roewe . In some markets this is also marketed as the MG 550 . The car was Roewe's first in-house development under Chinese direction, after previously only the Roewe 750 was offered, which technically represents a Rover 75 that has been moved to the upper middle class .
Visually, the 550 is based on the design introduced with the Roewe 750. The car is powered by a 1.8-liter engine, which has an output of 98 or 118 kW. An automatic transmission is also available as an option. The equipment corresponds to western standards of vehicles in the lower price range, with which the model also competes in terms of price. Air conditioning and leather seats, for example, are standard.

The plug-in hybrid e550 introduced in 2015 combines an 80 kW (109 PS) 1.5-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors . With a total output of 147 kW (200 hp), the sedan accelerates to 100 km / h in 9.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 200 km / h. The electric range of the plug-in hybrid is around 60 kilometers.
