history

In 1967 the Rosenheimer Förderanlagen GmbH was founded by Georg Uttscheid and Reiner Schramm. ROFA developed electric monorail systems as early as the early seventies and is therefore one of the pioneers of electric monorail systems. After automation played an increasingly important role in modern industrial production facilities, ROFA developed the first driverless transport systems (AGVs) in order to be able to offer their customers the complete solution for their transport tasks. The first AGV system was delivered and put into operation in the mid-1980s. Within two decades, ROFA developed into an internationally active, medium-sized company that in 1990 achieved a turnover of 40 million DM with 100 employees. In the same year, the ROFA Müvek Kft. Branch in Hungary was founded.

After Georg Uttscheid left the company in 1993, the company was taken over by Hartmut Uttscheid and Wolfgang Kozsar. After restructuring, the product range in the area of floor conveyor technology was expanded and the market presence was further expanded up to the year 2000, with branches in Brazil and partnerships in North America and Korea. The entry of UnternehmerAG and the departure of Hartmut Uttscheid in 2000 heralded a further step in the company's history. A new location was moved into Kolbermoor and the ROFA Nowa Tervezö Kft. Design office opened in Hungary. In the next few years branches were established in Hamm (Germany), South Korea, Spain and the USA. China followed in 2005 and new halls and office buildings were built at the Kolbermoor location. In 2006, the product range was expanded and with the acquisition of BSS Bohnenberg GmbH, a specialist in the field of intralogistics was added to the group of companies. In order to strengthen the area of automation and conveyor technology, the ROFA-LEHMER locations in Bodenwöhr and Filderstadt, another company in the USA, a branch in Brazil and the acquisition of the conveyor technology division of the insolvent MOLL GmbH, today's MOLL Automatisierung GmbH, were added. In the next few years branches in Poland, Romania and an office in Wolfsburg (Germany) followed. In 2012 ROFA looked after and developed 12 subsidiaries - a parent company with over 800 employees. In order to do justice to this development and to simplify the organizational structures, it was decided to merge AG and GmbH and to change the legal form, from which ROFA INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION AG was born with the current board members Wolfgang Kozsar and Andreas Bauer.

With the acquisition of Dynamic Logistic Systems BV in the Netherlands in 2013 and MLR System GmbH in 2015, the intralogistics division was repeatedly strengthened and the product portfolio expanded. Today, ROFA, at 14 locations with over 1000 employees, is an internationally successful partner of the automotive and processing industries and is one of the leading providers of systems and services in the fields of automation technology, conveyor technology, intralogistics and special machine construction.
