Roger Hassenforder
Roger Hassenford (born July 23, 1930 in Sausheim in Alsace ) is a former French cyclist and restaurateur.
Hassenford was considered to be unique and "boute-en-train" ("Ulknudel") in the main field of the Tour de France . He became internationally famous for spectacular interludes such as interviews while driving. He achieved his eight stage successes on the Tour from 1953 to 1959 and was there for four days in 1953 with the yellow jersey . He finished the Tour de France only once when he finished fiftieth in 1956 .
After his cycling career, he opened a renowned hotel-restaurant in Kaysersberg (Haut Rhin) in Alsace , which developed into a popular meeting place for cyclists in the 1960s.
