Roger de Jesus Miret (born June 30, 1964 in Havana ) is an American singer, guitarist and bassist of Cuban origin. He was best known as the singer of Agnostic Front , but is also involved in Lady Luck and has so far released four albums with Roger Miret and the Disasters .

Life

Miret was born as Rogelio de Jesus Miret in Havana in 1964. He sang in various punk bands in the early 1980s , Oi! - and hardcore punk bands in New York , including Barbed Wire Babies, Distorted Youth and the Psychos. In 1983 he joined Agnostic Front and released several albums until they were dissolved in 1993.

From 1991 to 1992 he spent a total of 18 months in prison for drug possession . There he wrote most of the songs on the agnostic front album One Voice (1992). On a subsequent European tour he was unable to show a valid visa in Switzerland, which is why he was expelled from the country and had to fly back to America from Frankfurt Airport . It was not until 2006 that he became a US citizen .

In 1988 he supported his younger half-brother Freddy "Madball" Cricien in founding Madball . It was initially a fun project with Cricien singing his brother's songs. Miret himself took over the bass , Vinnie Stigma the guitar and Will Shepler the drums. In 1993, at the same time as the agnostic front split, he left Madball.

In 1993 he initially retired into private life, but continued to make music with his partner and later wife Denise Teperino (later: Miret) under the name Lady Luck . In this project he played bass . In 1995 he also released two songs on the New York's Hardest compilation under the project name UXB . He took to the stage at a Madball show to sing Crucified , a cover version of Iron Cross , and a popular agnostic front live piece. He was knocked over at the pogen and broke his back. He was only slowly recovering from the serious injuries.

In 1997 Lady Luck released a split album with the New York band Fully. In 2000 the debut album was released with the title Life in Between . At a 1998 madball show, Vinnie Stigma and Miret decided to join forces again and reformed the Agnostic Front. The group has since released five more studio albums. In 2002 Miret decided to set up another pillar with the group Roger Miret and the Disasters . In addition to singing, he also took over the guitar there. The music of his solo project is more street punk and Oi! than that of its more hardcore-dominated main group. The group has released three albums so far, all through Hellcat Records .

Around 2006, Miret founded the old school hardcore band The Alligators with friends from the LA punk band Insted, where he took over the microphone. In the same year, the single You Ruined Everything was released on Indecision Records. A year later the self-titled single The Alligators followed , also with Indecision.

Miret also made guest appearances on various albums of the punk genre and produced various bands. He is also a fashion designer and publishes his own line of clothing, Dirty Devil . In his private life, Miret is an automotive mechatronics technician for motorcycles, a profession he learned in prison. He also heads the Rumblers Automobile Club . Miret has two daughters with his wife Denise.
