Roger Morris (born April 19, 1695 in London ; † January 31, 1749 there ) was an English architect . He was one of the most gifted and independent representatives of Palladianism .

Roger Morris received several important commissions during his career, including built the Palladian Bridge in Wilton House Park in Wiltshire (1736–1737); Marble Hill House at Twickenham (1724-1729); White Lodge in Richmond Park , Whitton Place in Middlesex County (1732–1739, destroyed) and Clearwell Castle in Gloucestershire (around 1728).

The Dukes of Argyll , the chiefs of the Campbell clan , made Inveraray the Royal Burgh and thus brought him city rights. In 1744 the entire place and the old ancestral castle were burned down to realize the new plans of John Vanbrugh for the castle ( Inveraray Castle ) and the city. The work according to the plans of the architects Roger Morris and William Adam , the prototype of a series of Gothicized English mansions, began in 1746 and lasted until 1789.
