Roger Zufferey
Roger Zufferey (born March 16, 1936 in Geneva ; † May 6, 2010 there ) was a Swiss jazz musician ( alto and soprano saxophone , clarinet ).
Act
Zufferey began to play the clarinet as an autodidact in the early 1950s . He initially worked for Jacques Schmitt's Hot Peppers , with whom he performed at the 10th Amateur Jazz Festival in Zurich in 1960 . He was also a member of Claude Aubert's band and from 1961 to 1971 of Henri Chaix's orchestra . Then he worked in Marc Roth's New Street Band ( Le jazz des copains , 1985). He also worked as a soloist in Roby Seidel's big band . Together with Eric Brooke he formed a quintet, which is documented on the album Géo Voumard fait la fête au jazz (2001). He performed with The Georgian's Big Band from 1990 to 1998 .
Tom Lord lists 22 recordings between 1960 and 2000; Among others, he can be heard on albums with Rex Stewart (Baden 1966 and Montreux 1971) , Benny Carter / Bill Coleman / Henri Chaix (The Three C) and The Georgian's Big Band .
