Roland Fürst (politician, 1961)

Roland Fürst (born May 6, 1961 in Olten ) is a Swiss politician . He is a member of the Christian Democratic People's Party (CVP).

Life

Fürst grew up in Gunzgen . In 1987 he graduated from the University of Basel with a degree in biology . Since 1991 he was on the board of the CVP, where he lived in Rickenbach, and was president of the local party from 1992 to 1993. In 1993 he moved back to Gunzgen, where he became mayor was elected. Fürst held this office until 2007. From 2005 Roland Fürst was a member of the Cantonal Council of the Canton of Solothurn . In 2007 he ran for the National Council . Fürst was not elected, but received the third-best result of the CVP candidates and thus the first substitute for his party. Since 2008 he has been on the board of the CVP of the canton of Solothurn. In 2008, Fürst was 2nd Vice-President of the Cantonal Council, in 2009 1st Vice-President.

In the replacement election for the late Councilor of States Ernst Leuenberger ( SP ), Fürst ran two ballots in 2009/2010 against the SVP candidates (first Roland Borer , then Heinz Müller ) and the SP ( Roberto Zanetti ). In the second ballot on January 24, 2010, Zanetti prevailed with 49.8 percent of the vote. Fürst received 28.9 percent of the vote, Müller 21.3. In the 2013 government council elections, Fürst was elected to the Solothurn cantonal government on April 14th.

From 2006 to 2013, Fürst was director of the Solothurn Chamber of Commerce after having worked as a computer scientist for 15 years. He is a member of the board of directors of several Solothurn companies.
