Roland Hartwig

Roland Hartwig (born September 22, 1954 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( AfD ) and lawyer. He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1973 in Heilbronn , Hartwig did his military service and in 1974 began studying law at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , which he completed in 1979 with the 1st state examination . He completed the subsequent legal clerkship in 1982 with the 2nd state examination. From 1980 to 1984 he worked at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law in Freiburg im Breisgau . In 1984 he was at the University of Freiburg with the work "Advantage grant and bribery as an economic crime" to Dr. jur.PhD. In 1984 he joined the legal department of Bayer AG in Leverkusen . In 1997 he took over the management of the central patent department and in 1999, as head of syndicates, was responsible for the Bayer Group's legal and patents division worldwide. He retired in 2016 and has been working as an independent lawyer ever since .

Roland Hartwig is married and has five children. In autumn 2017 he moved from Bergisch Gladbach to Königswinter .

Political party

Hartwig joined the AfD in May 2013 because, according to Die Zeit, CDU and FDP had moved too far to the left. From June 2016 to September 2017 he was a member of the AfD board in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis . Since February 2020 he has been a member of the AfD board in the Rhein-Sieg district .

Since 2018, Hartwig has headed a working group on how the AfD should deal with a possible observation by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution .

In the 2020 local elections, he will run for AfD as a candidate for mayor in Leverkusen.

MP

Hartwig has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017, where he is a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Council of Elders . He is also a deputy member of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Consumer Protection and the Subcommittee on Disarmament, Arms Control and Non-Proliferation.

Hartwig was elected to the Bundestag via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia in the 2017 federal election. As a direct candidate in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis , he received 7.2% of the first votes .

Positions

Hartwig described himself as liberal-conservative and supported Frauke Petry's course until she left the AfD . Hartwig is “not convinced” of the importance of the human contribution to climate change (Die Zeit).

Hartwig published a handout on dealing with the protection of the Constitution , with which it should be laid down what AfD members are allowed to express publicly. The handout contains an extensive list of positions, statements and terms that party members are no longer allowed to utter; Otherwise, they are threatened with party regulatory proceedings , including exclusion proceedings . Among other things, AfD members are said to be forbidden from now on under threat of party regulatory proceedings “to associate phenomena such as forced marriages, honor killings , youth violence and terrorism with Islam in an 'exclusively and undifferentiated' manner ”. Demands for the denial of permanent residence rights for migrants or the revocation of naturalization are also prohibited.
