Roland Kickinger (born March 30, 1968 in Vienna , Austria ) is an Austrian bodybuilder , film actor and film producer .

Life

Early life

Roland Kickinger was born as the youngest son of a secretary and an official of the Austrian Federal Railways . As a child he showed sporting ambitions as a swimmer and soccer player; from the age of 15 he also started training to become a bodybuilder in a small gymnasium in Vienna.

In 1987, at the age of 19, Kickinger completed his training at a hotel and hospitality school and then went on board The Regent Sea in Vancouver . Because of his poor knowledge of English, Kickinger was employed as an assistant in the kitchen, before he rose to the position of waiter three months later and then again to assistant chef some time later . After a year on board The Regent Sea , which sailed along the American west coast to the Caribbean , Kickinger returned to Austria. Kickinger worked in a Viennese hotel for five years before he made the decision to go to California . One more reason was his participation in the National Amateur Bodybuilders Association and his election to Mr. Austria in 1994.

Career in the USA

In January 1995, Kickinger moved to Venice , where he began to train in small gyms and fitness clubs. At the weekend he stood on the beach and, for a fee of 3 dollars, had himself photographed with a bared torso at the side of women. As in Austria, Kickinger also took part in bodybuilder events in the USA and came seventh at the Ironman in 1996 . By 1999 Kickinger took part four more times, but in 1997 could only take 11th place.

Film career

In 1997, Kickinger also stood in front of the film camera for the first time, as a guest actor in the sitcom Hang Time . With the exception of a supporting role in the 1998 action film Lethal Weapon 4 , his filmmaking was mostly limited to television films or appearances in television series. Appearances in Hör mal, wer da hammert (1999), King of Queens (2003) and The Closer (2006) deserve special mention , as well as a brief appearance as a fitness trainer in Always Again Jim . Between 2000 and 2002, Kickinger was also the leading actor in the short-lived television series Son of the Beach , a parody of Baywatch - The Lifeguards of Malibu .

In 2005, Roland Kickinger took on his most famous film role to date. In the television biography See, Arnold Run , he embodied the young Arnold Schwarzenegger , who, like him, came from Austria, had started as a bodybuilder and also managed to convince in the film. Another parallel between Schwarzenegger and Kickinger is the fact that both have slipped into the role of the Terminator . This is how Kickinger stood for the film Terminator: The Redemption in Front of the Camera, which was released in 2009. However, his face was digitally replaced by that of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
