Roland Seffrin (born July 24, 1905 in Niedersimten , now Pirmasens , † February 10, 1985 in Hamburg ) was a German educator and politician ( center , later CDU ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school and graduating from high school in 1925 at the Humanistic Gymnasium Pirmasens , Seffrin began studying philosophy, history and geography at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Here he became an active member of the Catholic student association KSSt.V. Alemannia Munich in the KV . He completed his studies in 1929 with the first state examination and in 1930 with the second state examination for higher education. In 1930/31 he worked as a study assessor in Papenburg , then joined the Hamburg school service as a teacher and was promoted to the teaching council. In 1936, he also took a degree in sociology and economic geography at the University of Hamburg in which he in 1938 with the graduation to the Dr. phil. finished. In 1940 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht and took part in the Second World War as a non-commissioned officer . From 1941 to 1945 he worked as a lecturer at the German Academy in Neusohl ( Slovakia ).

Seffrin was again active in the Hamburg school service from 1945. In addition to his teaching profession, he worked as an editor and writer for various newspapers and magazines.

Political party

Seffrin was a member of the Center Party from 1930 until its dissolution in 1933 and headed the Windthorstbund -Landesverband Nordmark since 1931 . In 1932 and 1933 he ran unsuccessfully for entry into the Reichstag .

After the Second World War, Seffrin was one of the founders of the CDU in Altona in November 1945 , was elected to the party's state executive committee in 1947 and was deputy state chairman of the CDU Hamburg from 1950 to 1953 and from 1954 to 1966. From 1959 to 1965 he was chairman of the Christian Democratic Workers' Union (CDA) Hamburg.

Seffrin was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1965 and from 1956 a member of the Defense Committee of the German Bundestag . He was always drawn into parliament via the state list of the CDU Hamburg.
