Roland Zorzi (born January 13, 1985 ) is an Austrian grass skier . He starts for the Elsbethen ski club and is a member of the A-team of the Austrian Ski Association . Zorzi has so far achieved six top 15 placings in world cup races and was Austrian runner-up in giant slalom in 2004. His brother Josef Zorzi was also a grass skier.

Career

Zorzi's best results at the Junior World Championships were two 15th places in the slalom and the combination in 2003 in Goldingen and a 15th place in the giant slalom in 2005 in Nové Město na Moravě . In 2004 he became Austrian runner-up in giant slalom, in 2005 he won the bronze medal in slalom, super-G and combined at the Austrian championships, and in 2002 he had also won the bronze medal in combined.

By 2004 Zorzi took part in several World Cup races, but from 2005 to 2007 he only competed in FIS races , in which he was three times in the top ten in these three years. Since the 2008 season , Zorzi has been back in the World Cup. This year he reached 21st place in the super combination of Rettenbach and 23rd place in the super combination of Forni di Sopra as well as three top 20 results in FIS races, which put him 40th in the overall World Cup occupied. In the 2009 season he was able to improve his results and achieved his best result of the season with 13th place in the first slalom of Čenkovice . He achieved further top 20 results with 19th place in the second slalom in Čenkovice, 15th place in Maria Gugging's slalom and 18th place in the giant slalom in Forni di Sopra. In addition, there was a 24th and a 27th place in the super combinations of Forni di Sopra and Wilhelmsburg as well as several top 20 results in FIS races, which improved him to 28th place in the overall World Cup. At the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach, however, he did not come close to his World Cup results. In the giant slalom he was 34th and in the super-G 45th. In his strongest discipline, the slalom, he was eliminated in the second round and in the super combination he was disqualified in the slalom round after a goal error.

In June 2010, Roland Zorzi won the bronze medal in slalom at the Austrian championships in Rettenbach, his first national medal in five years. On September 19, he achieved his best World Cup result to date with tenth place in the slalom in Sestriere . Before that, in the 2010 season he had already been in the top 20 in four World Cup races. In the overall World Cup he was able to improve by one place to 27th place. After Zorzi had not participated in any competitions in 2011, he started again in two World Cup races in San Sicario in the 2012 season . He was 15th in the giant slalom and 23rd in the Super-G.
