Rolandstrasse 48 (Bonn)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The house Rolandstraße 48 is a villa in Rüngsdorf , a district of the Bonn district of Bad Godesberg , which was built in 1932. It stands as a monument under monument protection .

history

The villa was built as a single-family home for the client Heinrich Oettinger, a director, based on a design by the Cologne architect Edmund Bolten (1882–1949). The site manager was the Godesberg architect Karl Schwarz , who designed numerous houses on Rolandstrasse and the Fasanenstrasse adjoining it to the south.

In 1965 the terrace was converted into a living room as part of a side extension of the house and the garage was extended at the rear. Since 1966 at the latest, the property has served as the office building of the Embassy of Madagascar in the Federal Republic of Germany at the Bonn government seat and at the same time as the ambassador's residence . For the embassy chancellery, a new building was built on the front part of the property facing Rolandstrasse, which noticeably reduced the original front garden of the villa. In 1985, Madagascar had it extended in a south-easterly direction by a room as a side extension and connected with the office building.

In 2001, the embassy of Madagascar moved to Falkensee near Berlin following the relocation of the seat of government (1999) (→ Madagascan embassy (Falkensee) ). The former embassy building has been the headquarters of the VSRW publishing house since 2003 .

The entry of the house including the wall fence in the list of monuments of the city of Bonn took place on August 18, 2000.

architecture

The house is a two - storey plastered, flat - roofed building in two irregular axes with a two-storey bay and balcony . The outer structure with its original windows and doors has been preserved, as is the majority of the interior layout and furnishings. Among the houses in the middle of Rolandstrasse, the villa is the only one that has survived from the construction period.
