Rolf Brack (born December 6, 1953 ) is a German handball trainer and former handball player .

Career

Brack was active as a player for the clubs TuS Kirn, TuS Saulheim and SG Dietzenbach . At the age of 29 he took over the coaching position at the upper division TSV Zuffenhausen. After an unsuccessful start to the season, the sports scientist was about to be released, but the team spoke out in favor of him. At the end of the season, the team managed to stay up. Later he coached TSV Scharnhausen and SG Stuttgart / Scharnhausen, where he also worked as the sporting director in the meantime, as well as SG Göppingen-Scharnhausen, VfL Pfullingen and, from 2004, HBW Balingen-Weilstetten , which he did except for Scharnhausen / Göppinger Syndicate led everyone into the Bundesliga. In December 2013, the HBW separated from Brack in response to the continued unsuccessful sporting activity , and Markus Gaugisch was his successor . In the summer of 2014, Brack was supposed to take over as coach of the Swiss national team , but already took up this post at the end of December 2013. His contract with the Swiss Handball Federation ended in summer 2016. He has been a consultant at DJK Rimpar since August 2016 . From September 2017 until the end of the 2017/18 season he coached the Bundesliga club Frisch Auf Göppingen . In February 2020 he coached the Bundesliga club HC Erlangen .

In addition to his training as a trainer, the sports scientist with a doctorate and habilitation is also employed as an academic senior counselor at the University of Stuttgart . In addition, he is a member of the Federal Teaching Commission of the German Handball Federation .
