Markus Gaugisch (born April 20, 1974 in Göppingen ) is a former German handball trainer and handball player who could be used in all positions in the back room .

Athletic career

The 1.92 m tall and 95 kg heavy right-hander began his career at TSV Heiningen, with whom he became German A youth champion in 1993 . He later played at TSV Scharnhausen . In 1995 he moved to the southern second division VfL Pfullingen , with whom he became second division champion in 2001/02 and then played in the first handball division until 2006 . After relegation, he joined the Regionalliga promoted TV 1893 Neuhausen . In 2007 he ended his playing career.

He then became assistant coach to Kurt Reusch at Neuhausen, before he inherited the latter after his retirement in 2009 as head coach of the second division promoted team. In the 2011/12 season he was third in the second division with Neuhausen and made it to the upper house. There you could cause a sensation with a draw against HSV Hamburg , but at the end of the season, you had to go into the second division in seventeenth place. In September 2013, the Bundesliga club HBW Balingen-Weilstetten announced that Markus Gaugisch would succeed Rolf Brack , who was leaving at the end of the 2013/14 season . After Brack was dismissed in December due to poor results, Gaugisch took over the post early. In December 2015 he was released from HBW Balingen-Weilstetten. For the 2020/21 season he took over the women's Bundesliga club SG BBM Bietigheim .
