Simeon "Simi" Hamilton (born May 14, 1987 in Aspen ) is an American cross-country skier .

Career

Until 2010, Hamilton took part in races of the Nor-Am Cup and the US Super Tour. He made his World Cup debut in February 2010 in Canmore , which he finished with 28th place in the sprint and thus also got World Cup points. His best finish at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver was the 29th place in the sprint. He won gold in the sprint at the 2010 US Long-Distance Skiing Championships in Anchorage . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 2011 , he finished 25th in the sprint. At the US Long-Distance Skiing Championships 2011 in Rumford, he won silver in the sprint. In March 2012 he was able to achieve a top ten placement in the World Cup for the first time with seventh place in Drammen . He finished the 2011/12 World Cup season in 22nd place in the sprint ranking. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme , he reached 34th place in the sprint. He took part in the Tour de Ski 2013/2014 , which he did not finish. But he was able to win the sprint competition. His best placings at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi were sixth in the team sprint and 27th in the sprint. He finished the 2013/14 season in 53rd place in the overall standings and in 20th place in the sprint standings. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2015 in Falun he finished 12th in the sprint, 11th place with the relay and seventh place together with Andrew Newell in the team sprint. After finishing 68th at the Nordic Opening in Ruka at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, he finished third in the sprint in Toblach . In the further course of the season he came eight times into the points in World Cup sprints. At the end of the season he achieved third place in the sprint stage of the Ski Tour Canada , which he ended prematurely, in Gatineau and reached 32nd place in the overall World Cup and tenth place in the Sprint World Cup. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season he won the Australia / New Zealand Cup in Snow Park over 10 km freestyle. In the further course of the season he won the sprint at the Alpencup in Planica and took second place in the sprint at the World Cup in Toblach. At the season highlight of the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , he came in 28th place in the sprint, tenth place with the relay and fifth place together with Erik Bjornsen in the team sprint. At the end of the season he finished 45th in the World Cup finals in Québec and reached 30th place in the overall World Cup and ninth place in the Sprint World Cup. At the beginning of September 2017 he won the Merino pattern . In the 2017/18 season he finished in the top ten three times in the individual sprint of the World Cup and thus finished 19th in the Sprint World Cup. In December 2017 he won the sprint at the Alpencup in St. Ulrich am Pillersee . At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he finished 20th in the sprint and, together with Erik Bjornsen, finished sixth in the team sprint.

In the 2018/19 season, Hamilton finished 66th in the Lillehammer Triple and 26th in the World Cup finals in Québec, and at the end of the season he finished 37th in the overall World Cup and 17th in the Sprint World Cup. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tyrol , he ran to 34th place in the 50 km mass start race, ninth place in the sprint and eighth place together with Erik Bjornsen in the team sprint. At the end of March 2019, he won the sprint at the US Super Tour in Presque Isle .
