Karl Heinrich Rumschöttel
Karl Heinrich Rumschöttel (born May 7, 1818 in Trier ; † November 7, 1871 in Alt-Saarbrücken ) was a German lawyer and mayor of St. Johann (Saar) (1868–1871).
Origin and education
His father was Johann August Rumschöttel (* 1786), government registrar , councilor and later director of the Trier country poor house , his mother Henriette Erhardina Ernestina (* 1791), b. Diedrich. Heinrich attended the "Gymnasium zu Trier" in his hometown until his Abitur in 1836 . Then he began to study law, first in 1836 and 1837 at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn . Heinrich married Antonie geb. Rumschöttel, presumably also from Trier. She must have been a distant cousin of his, otherwise the sources for the identity of the names would not have any other explanation than coincidence.
Legal career
After completing his studies, he was appointed trainee lawyer at the Trier district court on January 20, 1842, and was promoted to assessor on November 3, 1845 . From 1847 he was chairman of the Neuerburg Peace Court in the Eifel, and on August 17, 1860 he became a district judge at the Trier district court. He was transferred to the Saarbrücken Regional Court in 1865.
Public offices
Due to Karl Karcher's sudden resignation due to health reasons , the position of professional mayor in the Sankt Johann city administration became vacant. On October 5, 1868, Rumschöttel stood for election by the city council, on November 4, 1868 his election was confirmed. This was followed by his exemption from judicial service on November 8, 1868. On December 28, 1868 he was introduced to the mayor's office.
