Friedrich Haldy (born March 22, 1788 in Saarbrücken , born Friedrich Jakob Haldy , † July 5, 1844 there ) was a businessman, local politician and Saarbrücken mayor .

Life

Friedrich Haldy came from an old Saarbrücken merchant family. He was the eldest son of the red tanner and later innkeeper Ludwig Anton Haldy (1750-1830). His mother Maria Louise Wilhelmine geb. Müller (1761-1816) came from Finstigen in nearby Lorraine in France . On July 15, 1813, he married Henriette Katherine Karcher, daughter of the merchant Karl Heinrich Karcher from St. Johann . The daughter Henriette Amalie Friederike (* 1814) and the son Friedrich Alexander (* 1820) emerged from the marriage. Haldy worked as a coal and wood wholesaler and as a banker. On August 23, 1826, Haldy was appointed city councilor. He also managed a winery in Kleinblittersdorf since 1829 . Since January 2, 1837, Haldy was a member of the district council , and since August 31, 1838 first deputy of the city ​​council . On June 18, 1841, he was appointed district deputy and acting mayor, and was introduced to the office on June 29 of the same year. Only a few weeks before his death, on May 4, 1844, he received his appointment as provisional mayor.

Haldy was buried on July 7, 1844 in the Alt-Saarbrücken cemetery.
