Rolf Gehring (born November 25, 1955 in Düsseldorf ) is a former German tennis player .

Gehring was one of the strongest German players in the late 1970s and early 1980s. But this was at a time when German players could not be counted among the world's best. He celebrated his only tournament victory in 1980 in Munich . His highest world ranking position was 37th in 1981.

He won the title of German Champion in 1981 and 1985.

He achieved his most valuable success as unsettled with the second round victory over number one set world number one Björn Borg in the WCT Brussels Indoor Tournament on March 12, 1981. He then defeated the number four set Indian James Bond film actor Vijay Amritraj and lost in the semifinals to the American Brian Gottfried , who was beaten by Jimmy Connors in the final .

Between 1979 and 1982 Gehring played six games for the German Davis Cup team . He won four out of eleven singles games and one out of three doubles.
