Rolf Kaiser (born September 15, 1943 in Strasbourg ) is a former German ambassador .

Life

Rolf Kaiser graduated from high school in Nürtingen in March 1963 . From April 1963 to March 1965 he was doing military service . Rolf Kaiser studied political science and American studies from the 1965 summer semester to the 1967 summer semester at the University of Tübingen . In the winter semester of 1967 he studied at the University of Aix-en-Provence and also in Rome and at Harvard University .

In 1973 he was appointed to the Federal Chancellery by Willy Brandt . In Tübingen he was in 1976 with the study The interdependence of political and economic interests in the world monetary crisis in 1971 to the doctor of economics doctorate .

In the Federal Chancellery, Rolf Kaiser devoted himself to long-term planning, state organization and European economic and financial issues under Helmut Schmidt and Helmut Kohl . Rolf Kaiser belonged to the German delegation which was involved in the formulation of the Maastricht Treaty .

From the Chancellery, he was part of the introduction team for the euro at the European Commission in Brussels . From the Foreign Ministry, Rolf Kaiser was at the Embassy in London and at the OECD in Paris. From March 2000 to June 2002, Rolf Kaiser was head of the EU coordination group in the Federal Foreign Office. From July 2002 to July 2005 Rolf Kaiser was envoy at the Budapest embassy .
