Rolf Kalmuczak

Rolf Kalmuczak (born April 17, 1938 in Nordhausen , Harz , † March 10, 2007 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) was one of the most successful German writers . He wrote scripts, various books for young people, magazines and radio plays under more than 100 pseudonyms .

Life

Kalmuczak was an editor for daily newspapers, freelance work for Stern and Quick , an editor and one of the authors of the Jerry Cotton series. He was best known as " Stefan Wolf " with the TKKG book series. According to press reports, the total circulation of his TKKG books is 14 million, and almost 30 million cassettes and CDs of the TKKG radio plays have been sold. In his youth, Kalmuczak attended the Pädagogium Bad Sachsa boarding school himself ; some of the scenes in the series can be found in Bad Sachsa and the surrounding area. Together with his wife Inka-Maria, Kalmuczak also wrote the screenplay for the first TKKG film Dragon Eye . In an interview, he described her as his “best editor”.

Kalmuczak's first Cotton novel was published in 1962 as volume 237 under the title The Fighter Who Sells Death . According to the publisher, he is responsible for over 50 notebooks and around 20 paperbacks with the serial hero Jerry Cotton. His last Cotton appeared in the early 1980s. Since 1966 Kalmuczak has written a total of 160 books for young people and 2,700 crime stories for magazines, 36 screenplays, 170 pocket book thrillers, 200 booklet novels and some radio plays, using more than 100 pseudonyms . For seven years he was in the Guinness Book of Records because of this prolific writer achievement .

The ZDF pre-evening crime series Cliff Dexter, with Hans von Borsody in the title role, was based on an idea by Kalmuczak, and a total of 26 episodes were broadcast between 1966 and 1968.

Rolf Kalmuczak died on March 10, 2007 after a long and serious illness at the age of 68. Most recently he lived in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. He was married and had a daughter.
