Rolf Robischon (born June 25, 1907 in Wilhelmshaven ; † February 3, 1989 in Trier ) was a German architect and building researcher . He lectured at the State Engineering School for Building and Construction in Trier (today incorporated into the Trier University of Applied Sciences ) and founded the folklore and open-air museum Roscheider Hof in Konz .

Life

Robischon studied architecture at the RWTH Aachen and at the Technical University of Berlin . His teachers included August von Brandis and Hans Karlinger . After completing his studies in the late 1920s, he worked with Alexander Klein on a project on single-family homes in Berlin and the surrounding area.

After a collaboration with the church painter Rudolf Schäfer and several study trips to Italy and Eastern Europe, Robischon worked in the army construction administration in Berlin during National Socialism . He spent the war years in Austria . After 1945 he began a four-year job as a technical employee at the Bavarian Administration of State Palaces, Gardens and Lakes . From 1949 he worked as a freelance architect in Prüm .

As early as 1950 he taught at the Trier State Building School , a predecessor of today's Trier University, and was appointed professor there in 1971 . In the course of time he devoted himself to the architecture of village and farmhouses increasingly to folklore in Trier and the surrounding area. Robischon was the driving force behind the establishment (1976) and the ongoing expansion of the folklore and open-air museum Roscheider Hof in Konz and was its first director. Today it is one of the largest folklore museums in Germany.

Rolf-Robischon-Platz

After Robischon's death in 1989, the Rolf-Robischon-Platz, a roundabout in the immediate vicinity of the museum, was named after him in his honor in 2007.
