Rolf Schablinski

Rolf Schablinski (born October 5, 1932 in Erfurt ; † June 24, 2009 ) was a German journalist . From 1959 to 1965 he was editor-in-chief of the newspaper “ Das Volk ” in the GDR .

Life

Schablinski, son of a worker, attended elementary and high school with a high school diploma. In 1946 he joined the Free German Youth (FDJ). As a member of the then BSG Stahl Erfurt, he became East German youth champion over 100 m in 1950 and for a long time he also held the youth record with 11.1 seconds over this distance. In 1951 he joined the SED district newspaper “Das Volk” in Erfurt as a volunteer. From 1951 he studied journalism at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig , then at the Zhdanov University in Leningrad with a degree in journalism. Here he trained with the Soviet sprinter Ardalion Wassiljewitsch Ignatjew .

In 1954 he became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). From 1957 to 1959 he worked as an editor and from 1959 to 1965 as editor-in-chief of the SED district organ “Das Volk” in Erfurt (successor to Erich Richter ). At the same time he was a member of the SED district leadership in Erfurt . Afterwards he was head of the service at the General German Intelligence Service (ADN). From 1966 to 1971 he worked together with his wife Barbara Schablinski as ADN correspondent in Bonn and from 1972 to 1975 in Moscow. He completed his studies from 1976 to 1978 at the party college "Karl Marx" as a graduate social scientist. From 1978 to 1990 he acted as deputy or 1st deputy of the General Director of ADN.

Schablinski last lived in Berlin. He died at the age of 76.
