Barbara Schablinski

Barbara Schablinski , b. Barbara Trescher (born May 11, 1941 in Sondershausen ) is a German journalist . From 1987 to 1990 she was editor-in-chief of the magazine " Freie Welt " in the GDR .

Life

Barbara Schablinski, daughter of a postal worker, attended elementary and high school. She was initially employed from 1959 to 1960 as a worker in the VEB Braunkohlenkombinat Hoyerswerda . From 1960 to 1961 she was an intern at the SED district newspaper “ Das Volk ” in Erfurt and during this time she became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) in 1961 . From 1961 to 1965, she studied journalism at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig as a qualified journalist. She then worked from 1966 to 1971 with her husband Rolf Schablinski as an editor in the ADN office in Bonn . After preparing for her foreign assignment in 1971/72, she worked as an ADN correspondent in Moscow from 1972 to 1975 . In 1975 she started working as an editor for the magazine "Freie Welt". In 1984/85 she attended the party college "Karl Marx" and in 1986 rose to the position of first deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine. From 1987 to 1990 she was the successor to Joachim Umann as editor-in-chief of the "Free World". She was a member of the central board from 1986 and from 1988 to 1989 a member of the secretariat of the central board of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship (DSF). After 1990 she worked for the " Berliner Zeitung ".
