Rolf Schlindwein (born July 26, 1974 ) is a German chess player .

His first chess club was the SC Karlsdorf . Then he played for SC Viernheim . With the SF Baiertal-Schatthausen he played on the first board in the German Chess League in the 2000/01 season , then he moved to SC Untergrombach . Since 2014 he has been playing in the second and third team of OSG Baden-Baden . In Austria he played for the SK Maria Saal in the Staatsliga B Süd and Staatsliga B Mitte, in the Swiss 1st League for Réti Zurich . Rolf Schlindwein studied at the University of Karlsruhe .

Rolf Schlindwein has been the youth coordinator of OSG Baden-Baden since February 1, 2019. He is responsible for the coordination of the entire child and youth training of the OSG in close cooperation with the coaches and parents, including the control of the chess development of the children, support at tournaments and the formation of new training groups, parent chess and school chess groups.

In 1989 he finished second behind Stephan Berndt at the German U15 championship in Berlin . In 1994 in Binz on Rügen, he became German national champion while playing for the Baden Chess Association . In the same year he received the title of International Master . In 2001 he was named Baden Master in Leimen and was voted "Baden's Chess Athlete of the Year" in the same year. In 2001 and again in 2002 he won a 36-hour non-stop blitz tournament in Magdeburg in a team of two with Fabian Döttling . In 2002 he won an Open in Bruchsal- Untergrombach, in 2008 he won the 5th Schachtage in Bad Ems ahead of Karel van der Weide .

The Elo rating of Rolf Schlindwein is 2409 (as of January 2019), but he is listed as inactive because he has not played an Elo-rated game since he was in the 2nd Bundesliga South in March 2016. His highest rating to date was 2452 from July 2008 to June 2009.
