Kazimierz Romaniuk

Kazimierz Romaniuk (born August 21, 1927 in Holowienki ) is former bishop of Warsaw-Praga .

Life

The Archbishop of Gniezno and Warsaw Stefan Wyszyński donated him to the priestly ordination for the Archdiocese of Warsaw on December 16, 1951 . The doctor of theology became a lecturer and prefect of studies of the seminary in the archdiocese in 1954, of which he became rector in January 1971. Pope Paul VI awarded Romaniuk the title of Honorary Chaplain to His Holiness in 1973 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Sicca Veneria and auxiliary bishop in Warsaw on February 20, 1982 . The Archbishop of Gniezno and Warsaw Józef Glemp donated him episcopal ordination on March 4th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the auxiliary bishops in Warsaw Jerzy Modzelewski , Bronislaw Dabrowski FDP , Władysław Miziołek and Zbigniew Józef Kraszewski .

On March 25, 1992 he was appointed the first bishop of the diocese of Warsaw-Praga, established on the same date. In 1997 he completed the first translation of the Bible into Polish by an individual in 400 years. On August 26, 2004, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

Also in 2004, the city of Warsaw granted Romaniuk honorary citizenship .
